On Fertile Ground by Sophia Van Wyk in Collaboration with Chen Sasonof

This is Sophia Van Wyks first NFT titled 'On Fertile Ground'. This is a virtual 3D Model of the physical sculpture. In 2017 Sophia was selected for a three-month-long bronze casting residency at The Falconer Foundry, near Mooi River in Kwa-Zulu Natal where she created 'On Fertile Ground'.

Utility

The buyer will receive the On Fertile Ground (2017) Physical Bronze (black and bronze) with a painted wooden base 52 x 42 x 49 cm, along with the digital twin of the piece. 

Sophia Van Wyk

Sophia van Wyk completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Stellenbosch (2003), and graduated cum laude with a Masters in Fine Art from the University of Johannesburg (2015). Van Wyk also holds qualifications in furniture making, specialising in wood machining and cabinet making. She spear-headed different community engagement workshops and artists talks between 2007 and 2013, which significantly influenced her artistic practice. Her most recent solo exhibition, Future Mythology, was at Everard Read Cape Town in May 2022. She has participated in group shows around South Africa, including at NIROX Sculpture Park, and has been awarded residencies both locally and internationally.

Chen Sasonof

Chen is a Senior Designer, completing his Bachelor of Arts in Visual Brands Communications from AAA School of Advertising in 2015. He has since enjoyed several permanent positions in a number of advertising agencies both big and small. After gaining experience, skill, and enough momentum, Chen decided to pursue his passions of 2D motion and 3D design, amongst others (of which he is self-taught), by moving to be a full-time freelancer. 4 years in, Chen continues to expand his body of work and skill set in the ever-growing, technologically driven design space, creating beautiful artworks in various disciplines, brought to life with motion wherever possible.
